We’ve never met a paper scrap that couldn’t use a doodle, or a sentence that wouldn’t benefit from a well-placed metaphor. When we set out to make Prism, we knew we wanted creativity to play a major part because we believe that self-expression is a wellness practice in itself.
A. Andrews is a writer and cartoonist based in Minneapolis. They are the creator of A Quick & Easy Guide to Sex & Disability, a comic guide to sex and sexuality for all bodies, and were named one of The Advocate’s People of the Year (2021). Their work has appeared in The Washington Post, Autostraddle, The Nib, Glamour, and many more. For Prism’s Meat Issue, A. wrote about a childhood viewing of Alive and how it shaped their adult relationship with eating meat.
Alicia Kennedy is a writer from New York based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She writes a weekly newsletter on food culture, media, and politics, and is at work on a book about ethical eating for Beacon Press. For Prism Parcel 1, Alicia recounted her phase as a hardcore raw vegan and why it didn’t last. For Prism's Meat Issue, Alicia served as the Editor-at-Large.
Anita Little is a writer, editor, and content strategist from Texas who is now based in Los Angeles. She has spent the past 10 years creating meaningful, human-centered storytelling for places like Playboy, Ms., Elle and the ACLU. She’s currently reading Octavia Butler, watching anything in the Criterion Collection and learning meditation. For Prism Parcel 1, Anita wrote the Play and Nourishment overviews.
Clarissa Wei is a journalist based in Taipei. She is the host of Climate Cuisine, a podcast that is part of the Whetstone Radio Collective and explores how sustainable crops are used in similar climate zones around the world. For Prism’s Meat Issue, Clarissa wrote a global guide to plant-based eating.

Jenny Dorsey is a professional chef, author, and speaker working at the intersection of food, identity, and social justice. She leads a nonprofit community think tank named Studio ATAO, and runs her own culinary consulting business. Jenny writes a newsletter titled Way Too Complicated, and has bylines in outlets such as The Washington Post, Eater, The Counter, and Food & Wine. In pre-pandemic 2020, she gave her first TEDx Talk titled How Food Can Be a Source of Intimacy, Identity, and Vulnerability. For Prism’s Meat Issue, Jenny wrote about the relationship between masculinity and meat.
John Paul Brammer is an author and illustrator from Oklahoma currently based in Brooklyn. He is the creator of ¡Hola Papi!, a popular advice column catering to LGBTQ issues, and he has a memoir-in-essays of the same name being published in June. His work has appeared in The Washington Post, Food & Wine, Guernica, and many more. For Prism Parcel 1, John Paul revealed how a simple shift in mindset helped cure his sleepless nights.
Lisa Lombardi is the former executive editor of Health and the co-author of What the Yuck?! The Freaky & Fabulous Truth About Your Body. She’s the founder and administrator of the Cartoonists of Color, Queer Cartoonists, and Disabled Cartoonists databases. Mitchell S. Jackson is the winner of the 2021 Pulitzer Prize in Feature Writing and the 2021 National Magazine Award in Feature Writing. He is the author of the novel The Residue Years and the critically acclaimed memoir Survival Math. He writes a column for Esquire magazine and delivers lectures and keynote addresses all over the world. For Prism Parcel 1, Mitchell wrote about the concept of life balance through the lens of race and the legacy of slavery.
Mitra Jouhari is a writer and comedian. She is one-third of the Three Busy Debras on Adult Swim, which she co-writes, co-executive produces, and co-stars in. She has written for Big Mouth, Human Resources, High Maintenance, The President Show, Miracle Workers, and more. She has appeared in Search Party, The Big Sick, Broad City, Miracle Workers, Big Mouth, and other cool stuff. Tove Danovich is a writer based in Portland, Oregon. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Vox, The Ringer, and many others. Her first book, Under the Henfluence, will be published by Agate in spring 2023. For Prism’s Meat Issue, Tove wrote about how her flock of chickens changed her mindset about what (or who) we eat.

Khaila Carr is an artist whose work is influenced by color, dreams, dogs, comix, love, sex, fantasy, psychedelia, animation, and her Filipino American heritage. She graduated with a BFA in Illustration and Fine Arts from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio. Matt Martin is an LA-based photographer and photo editor whose work focuses largely on capturing the charms of humanity and the extraordinary possibilities of the material world. Specializing in portrait and still life photography, Martin’s photographs are snatched moments that could only be captured by someone not searching for, but simply seeing them as they happen - inflected with a peculiarity that sets them far apart from the norm.
